Content Policy
Effective date: October 20, 2026
1. ABOUT THIS POLICY
1.1 What this is. This Content Policy explains the rules in Section 6 of our Terms of Use, with examples, and explains what the NSFW tag can and cannot be used for. It forms part of the Terms of Use at https://workcarousel.com/terms. Capitalized terms such as Content, Cohort, Jury, Review Room and The Floor have the meanings given in the Terms of Use.
1.2 What it covers. This policy applies to everything you post, upload, send or create on the Service: posts, comments, reactions, messages, Water Cooler conversations, profiles, profile photos, career chapters, shelf items, company pages and sponsored cards.
1.3 Zero tolerance. WorkCarousel has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Breaking the rules in this policy can lead to removal of the Content and suspension or permanent termination of your account, with immediate effect and without prior warning.
1.4 Honesty is the point — not a license. WorkCarousel exists so people can talk honestly about their working lives. You can describe a bad week, a failed project, an unreasonable client or a workplace you were glad to leave. What you cannot do is use honesty as cover for the conduct this policy prohibits.
2. HARASSMENT AND BULLYING
2.1 The rule. Do not harass, bully, threaten or defame any person.
2.2 Examples of what this prohibits.
continuing to message or mention a member after they have told you to stop, or after they have blocked another account of yours;
organizing or encouraging others to pile on a person, on or off the Service;
mocking an identifiable person’s appearance, voice or manner, including in photos or videos;
making false statements of fact about an identifiable person or company — saying “my manager shouted at the whole team on Friday” is an account of your experience; inventing misconduct that did not happen is defamation; and
using a Cohort to settle scores with a former colleague by targeting them repeatedly.
2.3 What this does not prohibit. Honest, even sharply critical, accounts of your own working life: a review of how a project was run, criticism of a company’s practices, or a description of how a situation affected you.
3. HATEFUL CONTENT
3.1 The rule. Do not post Content that is hateful or discriminatory on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.
3.2 Examples of what this prohibits. Slurs and dehumanizing language about a protected group; claims that a group does not belong in a trade, profession or workplace; and praising or promoting hate groups. This applies in every format and mood, including Hot Take and Unhinged — a mood describes how you felt, it does not change the rules.
4. VIOLENCE, SELF-HARM AND DANGEROUS ACTS
4.1 Violence. Do not threaten or incite violence against anyone, praise or support violent attacks or violent extremist groups, or post graphic violence or gore.
4.2 Self-harm. Do not post Content that encourages or instructs self-harm, suicide or eating disorders. Talking honestly about your own struggles, including how work has affected your mental health, is allowed; telling or showing someone how to hurt themselves is not. If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact a crisis service where you live — in the United States, call or text 988.
5. SEXUAL CONTENT AND THE NSFW TAG
5.1 Never allowed, tagged or not. Sexually explicit or pornographic Content is prohibited everywhere on the Service, whether or not it carries the NSFW tag. So is offering, requesting or arranging commercial sexual services.
5.2 What the NSFW tag is for. The tag is a viewing control for lawful Content that these rules allow but that may not be suitable for every setting: strong profanity, crude humor, and frank, non-explicit discussion of adult themes as they come up in working life.
5.3 What the tag cannot do. The tag never makes prohibited Content acceptable. Tagging a post does not permit pornography, hate, harassment or anything else this policy prohibits.
5.4 Tagging duties. If our screening tools identify your text as NSFW, you must tag the post or edit it before it can be posted. We may add the tag to a post that needs it or remove it from one that does not. Repeatedly failing to tag posts that need it, or using the tag to post prohibited Content, may lead to action against your account.
6. CHILD SAFETY
6.1 Absolute prohibition. Content that sexualizes, exploits or endangers minors in any way is prohibited. Our Child Safety Standards at https://workcarousel.com/child-safety apply in addition to this policy.
6.2 Reporting. We report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as U.S. federal law requires. Reports about child safety go directly to our moderators and are never shown to a Jury.
7. PRIVACY, DOXXING AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION
7.1 Other people’s private information. Do not disclose another person’s private information without their consent. This includes a home address, a personal phone number or email address, health information, financial details, immigration status and identity documents.
7.2 Confidential material. Do not disclose trade secrets or information you are legally bound to keep confidential — client lists, unreleased product details, material covered by an NDA, or records you had access to only because of your job.
7.3 Telling your story. You can describe your own experience at a workplace, including naming the company. Be careful with identifiable colleagues: describing what happened to you is your story; publishing someone else’s private information, or inventing facts about them, is not.
8. DECEPTION, SPAM AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
8.1 The rule. Do not impersonate another person or company; post spam, scams or deliberately misleading Content; sell or promote illegal goods or services; or promote fraud or other illegal activity.
8.2 Examples of what this prohibits. Creating an account in a real person’s name that is not yours; claiming career chapters that are not your own history; pyramid schemes and “guaranteed income” recruitment posts; bulk-posting the same promotional content across Cohorts; and selling account access or endorsements.
9. INTIMATE IMAGES SHARED WITHOUT CONSENT
9.1 The rule. Do not share, or threaten to share, an intimate image or video of a person without that person’s consent. This includes images that are AI-generated or digitally altered to depict a real person.
9.2 Asking us to remove an image. If an intimate image or video of you has been shared on the Service without your consent, you, or a person authorized to act for you, can ask us to remove it by reporting it in the app from the post’s overflow menu, or by emailing support@workcarousel.com. A request must include:
enough information for us to locate the image or video, such as a link to the post or a description of where it appears;
a statement that you are the person depicted, or that you are authorized to act for that person;
a statement that the image or video was shared without the depicted person’s consent; and
an email address we can use to reach you about the request.
9.3 What we do. We remove the image, and make reasonable efforts to remove known identical copies, within 48 hours of receiving a valid request. We may ask follow-up questions where needed to verify a request, and we act protectively while we do.
9.4 Who sees these reports. Reports about intimate images go directly to our moderators and are never shown to a Jury.
10. ENFORCEMENT AND APPEALS
10.1 Screening. Text, photos and videos in posts, and profile photos, pass automated screening before they go live, as Section 8 of the Terms of Use and Section 9 of our Privacy Policy describe.
10.2 Reports and the Jury. Any post, message or profile can be reported from its overflow menu or by email to support@workcarousel.com. Reported Content goes to the Review Room and may be put to a Jury vote, alongside review by our moderators. We review reports promptly and aim to act within 24 hours. We make the final decision on every report.
10.3 Actions we may take. Depending on the violation: adding or removing the NSFW tag; holding, restricting or removing Content; warning a member; limiting features; suspending an account; permanently removing a member; and reporting Content to NCMEC or law enforcement.
10.4 Appeals. If we act on your Content or your account and you think we got it wrong, email support@workcarousel.com within 30 days. A moderator will review the decision and tell you the outcome.
