A social network about work, for working people, any career.

Talk about work.
Honestly.

A title does not tell your story. WorkCarousel is where you share the real experience of work, under your own name.

Live on Android now. iPhone is in beta. Or use it in your browser, no install.

Hot TakeFed up

Twelve years on the line and the thing nobody tells you is that the job is not the hard part. The hard part is being asked to pretend the staffing works.

Line cook, restaurant group

The Floor

This is the whole product.

One feed. Every post carries a format and a mood, picked by the person writing it, so you know how to read it before the first word lands.

ConfessionDrained

Rebuilt the schedule three times this week because two caregivers are out, and I still do not know if Sunday nights are covered. Posting this instead of pretending it is fine.

Shift coordinator, home care

Backed a 53-foot trailer into the tightest dock in Toledo on the first try. Nobody was watching. You are watching now.

Month-end landed on a federal holiday again. How are other payroll teams handling the early processing run without burning the whole Thursday?

What is different

Five things you will not find on the other one.

No like button

Nothing here is optimised for reach. A post that nobody claps for is still a post that was true.

Your career is rooms, not a list

Every job, school, volunteer stint and camp opens onto everyone who shared it. We call each room a Cohort and they form on their own. Nobody has to add strangers.

Your resume finds your people

Hand the app your resume and it reads your history off the page, on your phone, and the file itself is never uploaded. What comes back is the list of rooms you already belong to and the people standing in them.

Your whole self, not your work self

Post about your dog, your kids, the promotion, the vacation. Nobody here is going to tell you it belongs on a different platform.

Months are optional

Sometime in the nineties is a perfectly good answer. Put in what you remember and leave the rest alone.

When something goes wrong

The room decides, mostly.

Everyone posts under a real name, so the people best placed to judge whether a post crossed a line are usually the people who were in the room when it did.

Report a post and it goes to the Jury: the members of the room it was posted in. They see it, they vote, and the result stands. That covers harassment, discrimination, and the ordinary run of things that go wrong between people at work.

Two categories never go to a vote. Reports about child safety, and reports about intimate images shared without consent, go straight to our moderators and are never shown to anyone else. Automated screening also checks every photo and video before it posts, and anything it cannot clear waits for a person rather than going live.

Sensitive content is opt-in, so you decide what the feed is allowed to show you. Location is never tracked. If you tag a place, the app takes one reading at roughly two-mile accuracy and then forgets where you are.

Companies

Companies join on the members’ terms.

A company claims its page by verifying a work email domain. Then it gets its own branding and its own voice, and that is where its power ends.

  • The roster comes from members’ own career paths. A company can sort it and feature people on it. It can never invent it.
  • Featuring someone’s work asks that person first. Every time.
  • No removing what members say. No member data. No say over moderation.
  • A company can reply under its own name, like anyone else.

Where we actually are

It is early, and we would rather say so.

The app is live on Android, in beta on iPhone, and running in a browser. Very few people are on it yet, and a good share of them are us.

So most of what is on this page is a promise rather than a track record, and we are not going to dress it up as anything else. What you can judge today is whether this sounds like somewhere you would say the true thing. That is the question we are actually asking.

Who made it

WorkCarousel is built by HR Data Labs, a consulting, technology and media firm built for the world of work. Seventy-five years of combined practitioner experience spent reading work data, and listening to the part that never makes it into the data.

One more thing

Come say the true thing.

It takes about a minute, and you use your real name.
